The Constitution and the Republic Day
The Constitution of the country was implemented on January 26, 1950, on the same occasion, Republic Day is celebrated by every citizen of India with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm, Republic means governance by the people for the people on January 26, 1950. Our country India was declared as a republic country. This day is celebrated by all Indian citizens without any discrimination, we all countrymen are proud to be citizens of India. In society, we have different castes, religions and many other things that separate us but a broad picture of this is that we all are Indians. Republic Day is celebrated as united by all Indians.
It was because of the hard work and struggle that the great freedom fighters of our country had sacrificed that India was given complete independence. And on this day we became completely independent. Because of all those great freedom fighters, today all Indian citizens are living with freedom in their country.
India’s history and Republic Day
On 26 January 1950, Dr Rajendra Prasad was elected as the first President of India in place of Lord Mountbatten (Governor General). In India, this day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and pomp. Every year a state ride is taken out by the Vice President of India, KG, in the capital of India, Delhi. And the salute is taken by the President of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Folk dances and costumes and culture of various regions of India are displayed.
It is a memorial to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country in the war fought to protect the sovereignty of the country or in the freedom movement. For many years British rule was faced by the freedom fighters of India. As a result of which the country was freed from their clutches, and their sacrifice cannot be forgotten.
Why was January 26 the day chosen?
Why was January 26 the day chosen to implement the Constitution of India which was accepted on November 26, this question must be coming into the mind of almost every Indian? There was also a particular purpose in choosing this date to implement the constitution. In fact, on January 26, 1930, against the slavery of the British, Congress declared India completely independent.
In such a situation, keeping in view the importance of this date of implementation of the proposal of Purna Swaraj, the day of January 26 was chosen to implement the constitution. With the implementation of the constitution on this day in 1950, the country was declared a full republic and since then, Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 January.
After the independence from the British, the need for a constitution was felt for the country. In such a situation, a Constituent Assembly was formed to make it. This assembly started the work of making the constitution from December 9, 1946. The President of this Constituent Assembly of India was Dr Rajendra Prasad.
While the chairman of the drafting committee of the constitution was Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Dr Ambedkar played an important role in framing the Constitution of India, due to which he is also called the architect of the Constitution.
The Constitution of India is the largest written constitution in the world, which took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to prepare. After this, on November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly handed over the country’s constitution to the President, Dr Rajendra Prasad. This is the reason why every year 26 November is celebrated as Constitution Day.
The main purpose of celebrating Republic Day as a special festival is that it is the foundation day of the Indian Constitution. Indian Republic Day is very interesting in history. Special programs are organized every year on 26 January to give honour to Republic Day on this occasion. It is an important day in the life of Indian citizens which makes everyone understand the importance of having a constitution.
The country of India is known as a democratic and republic nation, in India, a ruler is elected according to the opinion of the public. As a result, the elected ruler is put on the chair of power. If the public wants, they can remove the citizen sitting in the power from that post, on the basis of this, the decision of the public in a republican country is rational.
