A political controversy has been sparked by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey’s assertion that the platform received “many requests” from the Indian government to block accounts covering farmers’ protests and those critical of the government. The Opposition Congress is demanding clarification from the Centre and accusing it of “murder of democracy.”

Jack Dorsey’s claims trigger BJP-Congress face-off
Supriya Shrinate, the head of the Congress’ social media, stated to reporters at a press conference on Monday that “the manipulation of social media platforms or media at large is what ails India’s democracy. The mother of democracy is witnessing a murder of democracy in the open, and the coercion of the populace is what weakens the democracy.
“Twitter under Dorsey n his team were in repeated n continuous violations of India law.”
