ChatGPT maker OpenAI’s co-founder and chief executive Sam Altman meets PM Modi on Friday morning, tweeted a picture.
Altman who is in the country for a few days has met with G20 Sherpa and former Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, he participated in an event organized by IIIT-Delhi. Though Altman met the PM on Thursday before his interactive session with students of IIIT-Delhi, as he revealed at the event. He posted a picture from the meeting only the following day.

Earlier this week, Altman spoke to the students at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) and mentioned having a wonderful talk.
India’s future opportunities and how the nation should use Al to the fullest extent were topics of debate during the IIIT Delhi event.
In an interview, Altman acknowledged the widespread use of ChatGPT among early users in India and lauded the nation’s technological advancements.
In order to advance the relationship with India, Altman stated the first thing he will do is provide funding for Indian businesses. He stated, “We were always amazed and quite grateful for the quality of Indian startups,” and he added that he had met various startup leaders in India.
Given that India’s IT sector is currently quite strong, and that the nation has access to vast amounts of data, al-based utilities have a lot of potential.
Earlier in February, the government, using NASCOM data, stated that this year, the total number of professionals employed in the Al sector in India is expected to be around 416,000. The sector’s growth rate is predicted to be between 20 and 25 percent.
By 2034, Al is anticipated to increase its economic contribution to India by $957 billion.
Artificial Intelligence as a technology in its current form is largely task-oriented and not capable of dealing with a situation where logic and reasoning are needed, according to Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar who noted that he does not see any threat to job loss from it. At the event on Thursday, Sam Altman meets PM Modi and revealed the agenda of his meeting. He said, “We talked about the opportunities in front for the country, what the country should do, also the need to think about global regulation to make sure we prevent some of the downsides from happening — but it was a great hour.”
He further revealed that they also discussed the potential of AI, the opportunities it can offer in India, and the need for regulations around it. They also spoke about the downside of emerging technology.
Altman’s organization OpenAI created ChatGPT, a generative AI tool that took the world by storm and has become a buzzword ever since it was launched in November last year.
Altman is in India as a part of his trip across Israel, Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, and South Korea.
