Aurangzeb was Cruel.

Aurangzeb was Cruel.

Aurangzeb was Cruel: A Mughal emperor who died more than 300 years ago has become a hot topic of debate in India in recent months.

From 1658 until 1707, Aurangzeb, who is frequently referred to as the “last effective Mughal emperor,” controlled India. However, historians have never been very fond of him.

To begin with, he ascended to the kingdom by putting his father in prison and assassinating his older brother.

He also performed poorly when compared to other Mughal emperors, such his great-grandfather Akbar, who was recognised as a benevolent secular leader, his grandfather Jahangir, who was renowned for his love of art and architecture, and his father Shah Jahan, the great romantic who constructed the Taj Mahal.

However, Aurangzeb, the sixth emperor and a devout Muslim, was frequently criticised as an expansionist brutal tyrant who imposed strict Sharia rules and brought back the discriminatory jizya levy that Hindu citizens had to pay in exchange for security.

Additionally, he was said to despise music and other fine arts and to have instigated the destruction of several temples.

Aurangzeb was Cruel: Aurangzeb’s reign was marked by many revolts because of his religious persecution policy. Two main revolts were from Afghans and Sikhs. Sikh revolt was the result of the execution of Guru Tegh Bahadur by Aurangzeb. The revolt was led by Guru Gobind Singh who established the military brotherhood, or Khalsa.

Chhatrapati Sambaji Maharaj, a name that every Hindu takes with utmost pride for his courage, brilliance, bravery and the ultimate sacrifice he gave for the protection of the Hindu Dharma. 333 years ago today, the Hindavi Swarajya lost its second Chhatrapati, when the Islamic Tyrant Aurangzeb killed Sambhaji Maharaj after a month of horrendous torture.Aurangzeb was Cruel.Aurangzeb was Cruel.

Aurangzeb was Cruel: All of that occurred over a thousand years ago, yet the modern hatred directed towards him is unheard of.

It began when tensions over the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, a sacred city, started to flare up. The mosque was constructed on the site of the Vishwanath temple, a magnificent Hindu temple built in the 16th century that was destroyed on Aurangzeb’s orders in 1669. His name is currently trending on social media, where there are millions of negative allusions to him. He is also mentioned in court documents and by the current Hindu nationalist leadership of India.

Aurangzeb was Cruel: At a gathering in Varanasi in December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about “Aurangzeb’s atrocities, his terror.” He attempted to use the sword to transform civilization. With his extremism, he attempted to destroy culture, Mr. Modi remarked.

He mentioned the Mughal ruler’s name again last month – speaking on the occasion of the 400th birth anniversary of Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur who was beheaded for refusing to convert to Islam.

“Even though Aurangzeb severed many heads, he could not shake our faith”, Mr Modi said.

Aurangzeb was Cruel: Prof. Ram Puniyani has studied Indian history in depth. Reputable institutions have invited him to speak on topics important to India and the Indian people. He is regarded as objective, intelligent, and analytical. All open-minded individuals who wish to see India on the path of growth and progress adore and respect him for his capacity to see historical facts with rationalism and wisdom. He stands out for his ability to separate facts from a mass of myths.

Prof. Ram Puniyani refuted the historical myths that Aurangzeb oppressed Hindus and destroyed their temples in a recent interview with a Hindi station.

Aurangzeb was Cruel: What were Aurangzeb’s anti-Hindu policies?

Aurangzeb was Cruel.

Aurangzeb was Cruel: Aurangzeb was a religious zealot. His austere belief in the truth of Quran was evident in his actions during the 49 years reign. His policy of Islamic law in the Mughal Empire instigated several anti-Hindu policies like the following:

  1. He re-imposed abolished ‘Jizya’ on the Hindu community. This was a tax imposed on non-Muslim residents of the Mughal Empire for their continued stay in the Dar-al-Islam or land of Muslims. It was a form of punishment of Hindus for not converting to Islam under the Mughal rule.Aurangzeb was Cruel.
  2. He imposed 5% customs duties on Hindus traders, while Muslim traders paid 2% custom duties. This was to ensure the proliferation of Islamists in the Mughal Empire. This also worked as a non-violent coercion strategy to encourage conversion to Islam.
  3. He ordered the destruction of temples and schools at various stages of his rule in India. This was an act of oppression against the Hindu majority of the Mughal empire.
  4. He stopped the royal patronage to fine arts. Music and dance were lost as a form of art. He only encouraged Islamic prayers and conversations. His love for Islam came before his love for humans.
  5. He adopted Sharia Law for both the Muslim and non-Muslim community in his empire. This ensured that Hindus and other non-Muslims suffered as infidels are supposed to under the law of Allah.
  6. He prohibited Hindu fairs, building of new temples, and repair of old temples. This was an attempt to limit the access to places of religious congregation to Hindus.
