Wrong Map of India was accidentally promoted by Whatsapp and Zoom
Wrong map of India is getting popular and this is a big concern for India’s self-image. “Live life with self Respect” was a famous line by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. This was indeed one of the most important things that he wanted to teach to the people.
And recently when Whatsapp released an image of an Indian map showing that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is not a part of India then this was considered to be a direct attack on the self-respect of Indians.
Why Whatsapp released a controversial map of India?
Recently on the last day of 2022 Whatsapp tweeted a pic showing which country has the most number of Whatsapp users. In this picture, the POK has been shown as it is a part of Pakistan and not belongs to India. This tweet was tweeted from the Global Whatsapp tweeter account.
In reply to this tweet, the Minister of Electronics and Innovation Technology Dr Rajeeb Chandrasekhar tweeted that the map of India shown in the picture was incorrect and if Whatsapp or other companies want to do business in India then they should at least show the proper map of India.
After this, that tweet got deleted from the tweeter handle and Whatsapp immediately responded by saying that it was unintentional and didn’t mean to do this.
Importance of the Indian Market for Whatsapp
The main reason why Whatsapp took that reply so seriously is that India is the number one user of Whatsapp followed by Brazil, Indonesia and the USA. Even if the total number of users in all these countries is added up still it will not reach the number of users India has.
So, this is the main reason why Whatsapp took this incident very seriously.
Zoom showed the wrong map of India
Zoom also while flexing which country has the most number of users made a mistake and displayed the wrong map of India. In the zoom version of the displayed map, Kashmir is not even shown as a part of India and it was divided between Pakistan and China.
In reply to this tweet Minister of Electronics and Innovation Technology Dr Rajeeb Chandrasekhar tweeted and warned that they are displaying the wrong map of India to the world.
And that tweet also got taken down by Zoom and the CEO of Zoom “Yuan” apologised and said that it was purely unintentional and they will take care of it in the future.
How to solve the wrong map issue in India
We all know that mostly the wrong maps of India are shown around the globe and this supports the agenda of Pakistan and China which is a security threat to India.
To solve this issue we have to follow what China did to solve the same map issue. In 2006 China made a website and uploaded 418 politically correct maps to download and use for free. This move helped the companies like Whatsapp to get the correct map of the Chain because no company like Whatsapp do the research they just took what was most popular.
This step will be very beneficial for India since India has the 2nd biggest population and the social media side of India and the news media of India will promote this site on a very big level.
