Jamiat cheif against Uniform Civil Code: Jamiat chief Arshad Madani said Uniform Civil Code is against democracy but they will not take to the street against it. Jamiat chief Arshad Madani on Sunday issued an appeal stating that they would oppose the UCC but won’t take to the streets in opposition to the Uniform Civil Code as the Law Commission has started a fresh consultation process on it, sparking speculation that it would become a reality before the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
For the past 1,300 years, we have had our own set of laws. We’ll adhere to that. But we won’t want to demonstrate against UCC in public. We think there is no need for that because no government has done it since the Declaration of Independence. The Hindus and Muslims will grow apart the more protests there are, and the goal of the malicious individuals will be accomplished, according to Madani.

Jamiat cheif against Uniform Civil Code: Implementing UCC, according to Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, president of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council, is merely a strategy used by the BJP to win the elections. According to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, the Uniform Civil Code is unnecessary, unworkable, and very detrimental to the nation.
The government or any other outside source attempting to bring any change in these laws will only lead to chaos and disorder in the society, which can not be executed by any sensible government, the AIMPLB stated in a statement. “The board feels it necessary to reiterate its stand that the Muslim personal law is derived from Quran and Sunnah and therefore even Muslims are not authorised to make any changes,” the statement by the AIMPLB read.
The opposition parties have criticised the law commission’s request for a new round of consultation on the matter. Jairam Ramesh, general secretary of the Congress, claimed that the previous law commission released a consultation report on the subject in 2018 and that, bizarrely, the current law commission failed to explain why a new round of consultation was required.
