Conflicts in Manipur in 2023: Mobs attempt to vandalise BJP leaders’ homes
On Friday night, there was a new outbreak of violence in Manipur, with reports of 400–500 rounds being fired from automatic guns in the villages of Kangvai and Kwakta in Churachandpur and Bishupur. Numerous episodes of crowd gathering, attempted damage, and arson against public figures and assets were reported by officials.
Additionally, mobs attempted to set fire to the headquarters of the Thongju Assembly district, where Power and Forest Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh was elected, and vandalise the home of State BJP President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi.

Officials added that two people were hurt as a result of crowd clashes with security personnel overnight in Imphal town and attempted to set BJP officials’ homes on fire.
A mob of about 1,000 individuals attempted to set fire to some structures close to the palace grounds. To disperse the throng, the RAF was forced to use tear gas and rubber bullets.
Another mob attempted to torch MLA Biswajeet’s home, but the RAF dispersed the mob. After midnight, a mob surrounded the BJP office in Sinjemai, but an Army column saved the day.
