Conflicts in Manipur in 2023: Mobs attempt to vandalise BJP leaders’ homes
On Friday night, there was a new outbreak of violence in Manipur, with reports of 400–500 rounds being fired from automatic guns in the villages of Kangvai and Kwakta in Churachandpur and Bishupur. Numerous episodes of crowd gathering, attempted damage, and arson against public figures and assets were reported by officials.

Additionally, mobs attempted to set fire to the headquarters of the Thongju Assembly district, where Power and Forest Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh was elected, and vandalise the home of State BJP President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi.

Manipur Violence LIVE Updates: Curfew to be Relaxed Partially in Imphal Today
Authorities on Saturday decided to partially relax the curfew in Imphal East district on Sunday between 5 am to 5 pm in order to facilitate the public to buy essential items.
The areas where the curfew will be relaxed include the Hatta crossing to the RDS crossing, the Imphal River from Sanjenthong to Minuthong and Minuthong to Hatta crossing and RDS crossing to Sanjenthong.

Additionally, mobs attempted to set fire to the headquarters of the Thongju Assembly district, where Power and Forest Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh was elected, and vandalise the home of State BJP President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi.
Officials added that two people were hurt as a result of crowd clashes with security personnel overnight in Imphal town and attempted to set BJP officials’ homes on fire.
A mob of about 1,000 individuals attempted to set fire to some structures close to the palace grounds. To disperse the throng, the RAF was forced to use tear gas and rubber bullets.
Another mob attempted to torch MLA Biswajeet’s home, but the RAF dispersed the mob. After midnight, a mob surrounded the BJP office in Sinjemai, but an Army column saved the day.

Manipur Violence LIVE Updates: An Army veteran claimed that the northeastern state is now “stateless,” equating it with Libya, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Syria. The “extraordinarily sad call” from the retired lieutenant general from Manipur was noted by former Army chief Ved Malik, who stated that the state’s law and order situation requires “urgent attention at highest level.”
In his tweet, Malik included the names of the Indian prime minister, the union home minister, Amit Shah, and the defence minister, Rajnath Singh.
