Oscars: 95th Academy Awards

An irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats, and killer dance moves to match have made this song a global sensation. It plays during a pivotal scene in RRR, a movie about the friendship between real-life Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.

In addition to being sung in Telugu and illustrating the film’s anti-colonialist themes, it’s also a total banger. It’s earned millions of views on Youtube and Tik Tok. It has audiences dancing in movie theatres all around the world and is also the first song ever from Indian production to be nominated for an Oscar. Do you know Naatu? Because if you don’t you’re about to. From the film RRR this is Naatu Naatu.”- said Deepika Padukone at Standing Ovation For Naatu Naatu Performance.

Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR wins Oscars in the best category of the song. Naatu Naatu beats other nominees in the same category, those are- APPLAUSE (tell it like a woman), HOLD MY HAND (Top Gun Maverick), LIFT ME (Black Panther Wakanda Forever) & THIS IS A LIFE (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

Chandrabose & MM Keeravani

While accepting the award, the music director greets NAMASTE. Along with this, the song becomes the first Indian production to win an Oscars award for best original song.

“There was only one wish on my mind, RRR has to win, the pride of every Indian and it must put me on the top of the world.”- MM Keeravaani on the Oscars stage.

The official Twitter handle of RRR, after the historic win, posted-“We’re blessed that #RRRMovie is the first feature film to bring INDIA’s first ever Oscars in the Best Song Category with NaatuNaatu! oscars. No words can describe this surreal moment.  Dedicating this to all our amazing fans across the world. THANK YOU!! JAI HIND!”
