In the era of casteism and discrimination against women, Sarojini Naidu was Symbol of Congress, she was Symbol for female and we can definitely say that she was symbol of India.
Early life

- Father- Aghorenath chattopadhyay
- Mother -Barada sundari Devi chattopadhyay
- Brother- virendranath chattopadhyay (revolutionary) & Harindranath chattopadhyay (poet, dramatist and an actor)
Her sister Suhasini was also a dancer.
She was eldest among eight siblings and her family focused on education for all.

Education
She completed her schooling from University of Madras and became topper in matriculation.
She started writing dramas, poetries and stories when she was only 12 years old. One of her play called Maher Muneer was one of the famous play and liked by people so much subsequently in 1895 the play impressed Nizam trust (Mahhub Ali Khan ) and gave her chance to study in England in king’s College.
Polyglot
She knows many languages and proficient in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, urdu, Persian, Bengali and telugu.
Her play Maher Muneer was written in Persian.
As per Mahatma Gandhi, if you want to learn many languages then you must learn Sanskrit first.

Marriage life
At the age of 19, she got married with Govindarajulu Naidu, a physician. At that time intercaste marriage was not allowed but she got married with Full support of their family. She was blessed with 5 children, padmaja, her daughter also mentioned her name in list of freedom fighters.
Political career
In 1905 partition of Bengal was very painful for Sarojini Naidu and decided to join Indian national movement.
She met Mahatma Gandhi and got inspired and moved forward in her life.
Sarojini Naidu was elected as the President of the Indian National Congress Party in 1925, she was first ever Indian woman to assume that position.
Participate in all nationalist movements with Mahatma Gandhi.
Also participated in 2nd round table conference (7 Sept 1931 – 1 Dec 1931) with Mahatma Gandhi but was jailed along with Gandhiji, jawaharlal Nehru and Madan Mohan Malaviya.She also played a vital roal in civil disobedience movement. In1942 she was arrested during the Quit India Movement with many leaders.
Successively she met many of our countries great leaders such as jawaharlal nehru (1916) rabindranath tagore.
Participated in Champaran satyagraha for indigo planters.
Further, she became 1st woman to became Governer of any Indian state and governed Uttar Pradesh from 15 August 1947 to 2 March 1949.
- Help to Establish woman’s Indian association (WIA) IN 1917.
- She was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind medal by the British government for her work during the plague epidemic in India.

Death
Naidu died of cardiac arrest (heart attack) at 3:30 p.m. on 2 March 1949 at the Government House in Lucknow.
It is said that the soul of great people never dies, in the same way Sarojini Naidu’s body left this world but her ideology still inspires and gives guidance to us.
