- The Paris Agreement: It was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, on 12 December 2015. It entered into force on 4 November 2016. It aims to combat climate change by limiting global temperature rise and strengthening countries’ efforts to adapt to its impacts. The agreement establishes commitments for countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance climate resilience, and provide financial and technological support to developing nations.
- The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The SDGs are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015. These goals aim to address various social, economic, and environmental challenges, including environmental protection. Goal 13 focuses specifically on climate action, while other goals, such as Goal 14 (Life Below Water) and Goal 15 (Life on Land), address biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management.
- The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)- is a global treaty that focuses on protecting biodiversity and ensuring the fair use of genetic resources. It sets goals for conserving biodiversity, promoting sustainable development, and restoring ecosystems. The CBD encourages the creation of protected areas and the integration of biodiversity into sectors like agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. It aims to safeguard the diverse species and ecosystems that sustain life on Earth.
- The Montreal Protocol– It was adopted in 1987, and is a treaty that aims to protect the ozone layer. It works by gradually eliminating the production and use of substances, like chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which harm the ozone layer. The protocol has been effective in reducing these harmful substances, leading to the recovery of the ozone layer.

The mission also emphasizes the involvement of local communities in forest management and the generation of livelihood opportunities. - Swachh Bharat Mission-
The Swachh Bharat Mission is a nationwide campaign for cleanliness and sanitation. It aims to eliminate open defecation, improve solid waste management, and promote hygiene practices. The mission has led to the construction of millions of toilets and the improvement of waste management infrastructure across the country. - National Electric Mobility Mission Plan–
The National Electric Mobility Mission Plan aims to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India. The plan includes incentives and subsidies for EVs, the development of charging infrastructure, and the establishment of manufacturing hubs for EV components. This initiative aims to reduce air pollution from vehicles and decrease dependence on fossil fuels.
